We need your help to stop Sainsbury’s from blocking our proposals to redevelop the former Arla Dairy site in South Ruislip.
In October 2014 Hillingdon Council planning committee voted unanimously to approve our exciting plans to redevelop the former Arla Dairy site in South Ruislip. We are committed to deliver a new 11-screen cinema, 132 new homes, family restaurants, a new Asda supermarket, petrol filling station and create over 530 local jobs. All of which represents an investment of £100million in South Ruislip.
In January 2015 a Sainsbury’s spokesman confirmed they would be commencing proceedings to legally challenge the council’s legitimate decision to approve the plans.
On March 11th the judge provided a robust and comprehensive decision dismissing all three of Sainsbury’s grounds. However, Sainsbury’s chose to request an oral hearing in the High Court. At this hearing, the judge granted permission for a judicial review of HIllingdon’s decision to grant planning approval. This will take place on the 14th and 15th July. Unfortunately, the threshold for the judge to approve Sainsbury’s application for a judicial review was quite low, and Sainbury’s only had to present an ‘arguable’ case. We remain confident that Sainsbury’s will ultimately fail at the full hearing and the judge will uphold Hillingdon’s decision to grant planning consent. That being the case we expect to start works on site in late August/early September 2015.
