The Old Dairy
Works have commenced to deliver a new 11-screen cinema, family restaurants, a new Asda supermarket and petrol filling station which will create over 530 local jobs on completion.
In October 2014 Hillingdon Council planning committee voted unanimously to approve our exciting plans to redevelop the former Arla Dairy site in South Ruislip.
In January 2015 a Sainsbury’s spokesman confirmed they would be commencing proceedings to legally challenge the council’s legitimate decision to approve the plans.
On March 11th 2015 the judge provided a robust and comprehensive decision dismissing all three of Sainsbury’s grounds. However, Sainsbury’s chose to request an oral hearing in the High Court. At this hearing, the judge granted permission for a judicial review of Hillingdon’s decision to grant planning approval. This took place on the 14th and 15th July 2015. Unfortunately, the threshold for the judge to approve Sainsbury’s application for a judicial review was quite low, and Sainsbury’s only had to present an ‘arguable’ case.
However, on 22nd July 2015 the Judge threw out Sainsbury's case and dismissed their claim.
Works commenced on site in October 2015 and it is anticipated that the leisure and retail scheme will be open to the public in the summer of 2017.
